February Getaway: Punta Bulata

Weekend gang

Sometimes, all we need is a break and a good getaway to unwind. My friends and I decided to spend the long weekend at the beach given that we're all aquaholics. Plus, my best friend's boyfriend is leaving for Manila soon so we had to take him somewhere he would like to visit. We initially planned to go to this private resort in Sipalay, but it's fully booked until March. Hence, we opted to look for other alternatives and ended up booking an overnight stay at Punta Bulata. The resort is located at Barangay Elijan in Cauayan City. It's around 3 hours away from Bacolod City, the capital of the Negros Occidental. We were actually quite lucky to book the rooms 5 days before the trip because it was peak season. On their website, it showed that rooms were all fully booked already. However, Pat had the contact number of the receptionist in the resort so we just contacted her to further confirm the availability. Soon enough we made a reservation and had to pay full because again, it was peak season. We were scheduled to visit from Feb 12-Feb13 2021, which coincidentally was Chinese New Year. See below for the full breakdown of our expenses:

  • 2 superior rooms; maximum of 4 pax per room- PHP 15, 848.00
  • Gas-  PHP 220.00 per person (we were 7 so that's a total of 1,500 pesos and we only brought one car)
  • Chips- most probably two of us spent 300-400 pesos
  • Alcoholic drinks-  friends brought available drinks at home so we need not spend
  • Food- since there were 3 PWDs in the group, the discount was used to pay for the food instead (but if you can't get any discounts, I would recommend bringing an extra 1000 for your food. I'm sure you wouldn't consume for both lunch and dinner but better safe than sorry!)
  • Breakfast- it's for free!
  • Additional fee/s- 100 pesos per person (since we had about PHP 3,000 plus discount, we just had to add 700 pesos to cover the excess amount of our lunch and dinner)
So in total, we spent 16, 968 pesos for an overnight stay. Personally, I spent around 2, 968 pesos :)

But was it worth it? Sure it was! What I loved about the resort was the exclusivity because the place was not packed with other tourists at all. Simply put, I felt safe since everyone can practice social distancing protocols in the area. Though this is the case, I still had to wear a mask especially when there are others near me just to be super sure. I also loved the soft white sand stretching from one point to another! Low tides were intense during the day, but it is high tide by night. Not to mention, the infinity pool where you can chill if you have had enough of the sand, sea, and sun!

Every city in the province has different requirements but when we went to Cauayan, we only had to bring our valid ID, medical certificate, and barangay clearance. We answered the health declaration form upon arriving at the resort. I suggest you do your research from time to time because requirements may change. :)

So what should you pack?? Make sure to bring enough clothes, especially if you want to achieve your summer, beachy ensemble while you're at the beach. Bikinis and other kinds of swimsuits--whatever you prefer--, sunscreen, beach hat, beach mat, water jug, chips, drinks, the required forms, toiletries, plastic for your soon-to-be wet clothes, your mask, and face shield. Don't bring a towel because the resort has two towels for each guest! I'm not really sure if there's corkage for outside drinks but the resort knew we brought since we had a big cooler. However, we were not charged so I'm assuming there's none.

See some of my fave pics from the trip below:

Will bring my family here for a vacation once I get to save money for a trip again. :) How did you celebrate your pre-Valentine's? :)

Always,
